This accessibility statement applies to fosteringhope.southlondonmaternalhealthresearch.co.uk. It explains how accessible this website is, what to do if you have difficulty using it, and how to report problems.

1. How accessible this website is

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. That means you should be able to:

  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver)

2. Compliance status

This website has not yet been through a full formal audit against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard.

We believe this website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. The known issues are listed in section 3 below. We are working to improve accessibility over time.

Videos

The films and vlogs on this site are hosted on YouTube. Captions are provided automatically by YouTube and may not be fully accurate. We do not currently provide transcripts for all videos. We are working to address this.

Downloadable documents

Some documents available to download (such as PDFs) may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. If you need a document in a different format, please contact us (see section 4).

Colour contrast

Most text on the site meets WCAG AA contrast requirements. Some smaller decorative text elements (such as category labels) may fall below the recommended threshold and are being reviewed.

Images

We aim to provide alt text for all meaningful images. If you find an image without a useful description, please let us know.

7. Technical information

This website is built on WordPress using the Enfold theme. It has been tested manually using:

  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
  • Chrome and Firefox browser accessibility tools
  • Browser zoom up to 300%

A formal WCAG 2.1 AA audit is planned. This page will be updated with findings.

8. How we are improving accessibility

We are committed to making Fostering Hope as accessible as possible. Steps we are taking include:

  • Reviewing colour contrast across the site
  • Adding transcripts for video content
  • Ensuring all images have meaningful alt text
  • Working towards a formal WCAG 2.1 AA audit
